The Brockville Police have started an elder abuse investigation thanks to a concerned neighbour.
On Tuesday at 5:20 pm police say they were called to the residence of a 95-year-old woman after a neighbour went to check on her and heard arguing. The responding officers learned the fight was between family members and friends about the woman’s health care and financial power of attorney. Emergency Medical Services for Leeds and Grenville were called to the scene and took the elderly woman to the Brockville General Hospital with some minor leg injuries. According to police she was later released from hospital.
Police add that the disagreement over power of attorney matters remain under investigation.
