UCDSB schools on chopping block expected to close despite moratorium on review process

The Upper Canada District School Board’s decision to close a number of schools over the next few years won’t be affected by a provincial government moratorium on closure process.

The moratorium on the pupil accommodation review was announced by Minister of Education Mitzie Hunter on Wednesday.

Leeds-Grenville MPP Steve Clark says he has mixed feelings about the announcement.

Clark says he hoped it would be a stop to some of the closures within the UCDSB.

UCDSB Board of Trustees Chair Jeff McMillan confirmed in an email to Juice FM that the moratorium does not apply to the board, which rendered its decisions well in advance of this announcement.
