Senior services in the Lanark, Leeds and Grenville and Kingston townships are getting a boost thanks to Commonwell Mutual Insurance Group.
Today Community and Primary Health Care (CPHC) in Brockville welcomed representatives from Commonwell Mutual Insurance Group for a $25,000 cheque presentation ceremony. CPHC was one of three groups that received money as part of Commonwell’s staff selected We Create a Ripple Effect (CARE) program. Miki Goodwin, Brand Manager for Commonwell, says the CARE program is a way for Commonwell to give back to the communities they work in. She adds that companies can apply for CARE donations on their website but funds are also set aside for We CARE, which are staff selected charities.
For this round of We CARE donations Commonwell split the money between CPHC, Community Care Kawartha Lakes and Rural Ottawa South Support Services. According to Goodwin both Community Care Kawartha Lakes and Rural Ottawa South Support Services applied for CARE donations but asked for so little staff decided to include them in We CARE instead. CPHC was the only group that didn’t apply for any kind of donation.
CPHC is a registered charitable organization that focuses on improving the lives of seniors and their families. Crystal Sled, the fundraising developer for CPHC, says the primary goal of the organization is to keep seniors in their homes for as long as they can while ensuring they are safe and properly looked after. CPHC do this by running a number of programs, like Meals on Wheels and the Adult Day Program, while also offering respite care for seniors or caretakers in need. According to Sled the $25,000 will go towards these programs and services.
