Upper Canada District School Board recognised for energy efficiency

The Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) is among the most energy efficient school boards in Ontario.

According to the 2017 Sustainable Schools report the UCDSB is one of the 15 most energy efficient school boards in the province. The report, which his prepared by the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, ranked the UCDSB 14th out of 72 boards that were part of the study. According to the report the UCDSB has an energy savings potential of 19.6 per cent. In this particular study the lower the energy savings potential the higher a board ranked within the study.

A school board’s energy savings potential is determined by analysing energy use and building information from 5,000 schools and board administration buildings in Ontario. Energy targets are then set for every building based on; good practice standards, taking in to account the building type and area, as well as weather difference and a number of site-specific variables.
