Single RIDE program leads to many arrests

A single RIDE program by Brockville police has led to four different arrests.

According to police a 56-year-old man from Texas was pulled over because police believed he was under the influence of alcohol while operating his motor vehicle. The man refused to comply with an officer’s request for a roadside breath test. As a result he was placed under arrest for Refusing a Breath Sample. The police say he was held in custody to ensure he appeared in court.

A separate traffic stop resulted in three individuals being charged with possession of a controlled substance. Police say they stopped a vehicle with a 28-year-old male, 22-year-old male and 22-year-old female. While speaking to the occupants of the vehicle police detected a strong smell of marijuana coming from within. All three travellers were placed under arrest and the marijuana was seized. According to police the 22-year-old male was also on court ordered conditions which included a curfew. He was charged with breach of probation and held in custody pending a bail hearing while the other two occupants of the vehicle were released with court dates.
