Prescott Town Council has carried a Committee of the Whole suggestion about supporting the Ontario Safety League.
At this week’s council meeting the mayor and councillors formally voted to approve a suggestion made by committee to forward a letter on highway safety to other municipalities. The letter comes from safety league president Brian Patterson and is requesting the Chief Coroner of Ontario review the issues related to fatal car crashes on 400 series highways.
Council also voted in favour of supporting a letter from Progressive Conservative MPPs that pushes to make the 401 three lanes in both directions. Mayor Brett Todd says the letter puts pressure on the government to act.
