UCDSB Mental Health Strategy Update

Upper Canada District School Board Trustees met last week and discussed the school board’s approach to mental health.

Superintendent Valerie Allen and Principal of Special Education Debbie Banks, as well as the school board’s Chief Psychologists Doctor Alison Inglis and Doctor David Armstrong, presented an update on the 2017-2020 UCDSB Mental Health Strategy.

The strategy is based on four elements. Implementing mental health programming, developing “mental health literacy”, enhancing access to mental health information and updating where students go to access support.

According to the school board the strategy is intended to establish a consistent, equitable and intentional culture of well-being so students have an environment that allows live healthy lives.
