The Town of Prescott is reminding residents they need to renew their dog tags for 2018.
Registering your animal costs $20 but the fine for your pet not wearing a tag is $70. According to the town’s website dog tags are only valid for the calendar year printed on them, regardless of when they were purchased during 2017. Under town bylaw 23-94 it is illegal not to have your dog registered with the town.
Under the same bylaw it is also illegal to allow your dog to run free or trespass. The town reminds residents that the number of dogs per household is limited to two.
