The Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit is getting the word out about health equity.
The health unit says the concept behind health equity is that everyone has a chance to have a healthy life and be protected from things we can’t change on our own.
Public Health Nurse Alexis Green says there’s a number of factors that can play a role in health equity.
Green says they work with community partners by advocating for them and giving them the opportunity to be as healthy as they can be.
The health unit says that by talking about health equity, more awareness is brought to the issues that some people face.
