MPP Steve Clark Business Tour with Labour Critic John Yakabuski

Progressive Conservative MPP Steve Clark says small business owners and manufacturers in the area are telling him the Ontario government is making expansion more difficult.

Clark toured Leeds-Grenville businesses with Ontario PC Labour Critic MPP John Yakabuski and says they heard soaring hydro rates, growing red tape and rushed changes to labour policy are all negatively affecting business. Clark and Yakabuski met with Westport Mayor Robin Jones, local grocer Neil Kudrinko and The Cove’s Seamus Cowan. They also stopped by the Northern Cables plant in Brockville.

The tour came a day after the annual Ontario Economic report was released by the Ontario Chamber of Commerce. In the report it was revealed that less than 25 per cent of businesses are confident in the province’s economy.

Clark says business owners are the ones who create jobs and bring investment to communities, adding he thinks it is time they had a government listening to their concerns.
