The Grenville County OPP had a busy weekend in Edwardsburgh-Cardinal after responding to two breaks and enters.
In the first incident a resident saw a group of youth entering an abandoned church and called the OPP. Officers with the Grenville OPP arrived at the Dundas Street church and arrested eight teenagers with breaking and entering. All of the accused, ranging from 13 to 16 years old, are from the Cardinal area and six had their charges diverted under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. A 16 and 14 year old were criminally charged in the incident.
Officers are continuing their investigation into a second incident on the same night where the Bridgeview Restaurant entry alarm was triggered. The suspects were no longer on scene when the police arrived but an investigation revealed they gained entry through the rear of the building and were likely looking for cash, although nothing was missing.
