MPP for Leeds-Grenville Steve Clark is accusing the Wynne Liberal government of playing postal code politics.
In a recent statement to the media Clark said spending $7 million dollars to enhance the video technology at the Ottawa courthouse while forcing the Brockville courthouse to do without is an example of liberal ridings receiving preferential treatment. According to Clark police in Brockville do around 800 physical prisoner transfers every year.
Clark stresses that he trying to solve a safety issue that was brought to him by Brockville Police Chief Scott Fraser and that installing video equipment would also save tax-payers money. Right now two officers must be present to accompany prisoners, while a third watches over them in the holding cell.
Clark finished by saying the government needs to stop playing politics and get with the times by making court security in Brockville a priority.
