Leeds-Grenville Homelessness Survey

The United Counties of Leeds-Grenville are preparing for the first Homelessness Survey.

Leeds-Grenville Housing Manager Chris Morrison says under the Promoting Affordable Housing Act of 2016 all 47 Housing and Homelessness Program Service Managers in Ontario most conduct a survey on homelessness in their area every two years. The United Counties has developed a steering committee to assist them in carrying out the survey. The committee is made up of representatives from groups that deal with the homeless on a regular basis, like Salvation Army or Interval House.

According to Morrison they plan to take a period of time and, with help from their community partners, have as many relevant people fill out the survey as they can. At the end of the week they will collect and analyze the information, before making it available to the public. Morrison says the United Counties themselves will be using the information for their Housing and Homelessness plan, specifically developing future plans.

Morrison finished by saying they are looking for more partners to help distribute the survey and interested groups have until the end of the month to reach out. Complete details on this initiative can be found here.
