MPP Steve Clark says we may be seeing progress four months in the making.
According to Clark after first bringing up the issue of video technology at the Brockville Courthouse on November he has received encouraging news in the form of a letter to Police Chief Scott Fraser. In the letter Attorney General Yasir Naqvi said ministry officials had been asked to ensure a review of the technological and structural requirements for installing the tech in Brockville.
This review will take place separately from the ongoing province wide study. Clarks says it’s good news that the situation has full attention, adding that the review needs to happen quickly so they can get it up and running without further delay. He points to injuries suffered by an officer during prison transfer early in March as proof there is a real health and safety issue.
The issue was last raised at Queen’s Park last month when Clark voiced his displeasure that the attorney general’s riding would receive an upgrade to existing technology.
