The OPP Has Released the Easter Weekend Traffic Blitz Results

East Region OPP laid more tickets over the Easter Long Weekend than any other region in the province.

Acting Staff Sergeant Rene Cadieux with the Prescott OPP detachment says the region charged 1850 moving violations and the Prescott officers laid 220 charges over four days. Of the 220 charges 178 of them were for speeding, with four distracted driving and one impaired driving charge.

Cadieux says in this day and age even a single impaired driving charge is too many. He commended the Prescott team for the hard work they did lowering fatalities and serious collisions, of which there were none that weekend.

Cadieux finished by urging everyone to stay focused on the road. He says distracted driving is the new leading cause of serious collisions on the road and people need to stay away from their phones when behind the wheel.
