Brockville Church Encouraging Kids And Youth To ‘Chalk The Walk’

A Brockville Church is looking to get kids and youth in the community to spread positivity through chalk art.

The Brockville Wesleyan Church is running a ‘Chalk the Walk’ campaign, which aims to spread cheer by creating chalk art and encouraging messages on sidewalks and driveways.

Pastor of Outreach at Wesleyan Joanna Perry says they wanted to find a positive way to get through these pandemic times.

“We just wanted to spread cheer amidst the COVID-drear,” Perry said. “We think it’s great to see kids artwork on sidewalks and streets and so it makes people smile and I guess that what my aim was, to help people smile while in lockdown.”

From now until May 31, you can submit a picture of your chalk art, which will be entered into a draw to win gift card prizes to local businesses.

Perry says she hopes kids and older residents alike will see the power behind positive messaging.

“I hope they realize that they have the power to encourage others as well and that older people smile when they see their artwork and when they realize that everyone is trying to stay positive at this time,” Perry said.

Perry says if you don’t have chalk, you can arrange a safe pick-up/drop off, and the church will supply a fresh box.
