Businesses in Prescott should soon have a better glimpse of life after the pandemic.
The Downtown Prescott BIA is getting ready for its Annual General Meeting, where the group will discuss plans for improving the downtown area, while also looking at ways to help local businesses as they gradually reopen.
Board Chair for the BIA Kevin Bunce says with local COVID-case counts in decline, and more people getting vaccinated, there’s lots of optimism surrounding the business community.
“We’re hopeful that there will be progress with reopening businesses,” Bunce said. “So we’re hoping to get some downtown promotions going. There’s still a lot to discuss as far as the year goes but we are working to come up with some ideas.”
The AGM will feature presentations from the town of Prescott, the St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival, the South Grenville Chamber of Commerce, and the South Grenville Food Bank.
The BIA will also look into the importance of tourism attraction, traffic and parking in the Downtown core; and the marketing and promotion of businesses.
Bunce says while it’s been a difficult year for Prescott businesses, there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
“As far as business owners, just hold on, stay strong, and we’ll get there to being reopened,” he said. “As for the public, do what you can, and shop local when things are open.”
The AGM takes place Monday, May 31st, at 6 p.m. and it will be held via ZOOM.
