“It’s really humbling to be recognized in the community,” says Darlene Jones, co-owner of Augusta Township’s 2021 Business of the Year. Jones owns R & D Dairies, a dairy distribution company based out of North Augusta that works with companies across Ontario, alongside her husband Robert. The couple’s company was given the award at a community event organized by the Township of Augusta earlier this month.
Jones says that, as lifelong residents, it’s touching to be honored by the community for their work. “It’s long hours, and it’s trying at times,” says Jones, “but 99 per cent of the time, it’s great, because we have such a great customer base. They’re very personable people, and just to be recognized by them is great.”
Jones also thanks her staff for their work throughout the pandemic. “Our drivers are our face,” says Jones. “They’re our representatives when they’re out there, and they are just tremendous guys.”
Jones concluded by thanking the people of Augusta and throughout the region for supporting the companies R & D Dairies works with.
