Prescott’s Mayor says we can’t have these kinds of incidents happening in the town.
Gauri Shankar made the comment referring to a recent post on social media that showed the wounds left after a 13-year-old girl was bitten by a pit bull as she was walking along King Street West.
The girl suffered bite wounds but will recover.
Under a town bylaw, Shankar says all dogs must be leashed when they are on public property.
He says, as a result of what happened, we’re going to see more fines and tickets given to people who don’t leash their dogs.
“The public may not like it but rules are rules, you can speed to work every day until you get caught or until you run someone over, then you’re in trouble.”
Shankar says he believes most residents will be in favor of the additional enforcement knowing that it’s to protect those who live in Prescott.
