The Town of Prescott has a new clerk.
Chloe Preston was hired to fill the vacant position, not long after the town posted the position, Mayor Gauri Shankar said.
Preston comes with experience and knowledge of the area, having worked in nearby North Grenville.
 “It’s nice to see someone with that experience and that knowledge…I think she is going to be a great addition to our town and our senior management team,” Shankar said.
The clerk’s department provides administrative support to council and its committees and ensures that all of the actions taken by council are recorded and communicated.
Preston is expected to start work in a couple of weeks and a bylaw to appoint her to the position was expected to pass at town council on Monday night.
