South Nation Conservation downgrades Flood Watch Statement

With less rain in the forecast, South Nation Conservation is adjusting its Flood Watch Statement.

Officials say there is now a Flood Outlook in place and while water levels and flows have declined, they remain elevated due to saturated soils and ongoing spring conditions.

Environment Canada is forecasting less than 10 milmetres of rain over the next week. Above zero temperaturs are forecasted for most of the week with daytime temperatures ranging between 0 and 16 degrees.

The risk of widespread flooding has decreased; however, caution is still advised near all watercourses. Minor flooding may still occur in areas prone to poor drainage or those regularly impacted during spring runoff.

Residents are advised to exercise extreme caution when near rivers and waterbodies due to elevated flows and slippery conditions.
