Labelling the Upper Canada District School Board’s accommodation review process to close 29 schools “undiplomatic and hostile”, a committee member charged with reporting on the public meetings has resigned.
Michelle Taylor was tasked with gathering public input from the Grenville, Brockville, and Athens area meetings, but has said she can no longer “compile watered-down feedback into a report that may not even be taken seriously by the school board”.
Taylor also expressed her disappointment at the roadblocks the UCDSB has put in front of the public in order to participate in the public meetings. Currently in order to present, speakers must register with the board in advance with a prepared presentation in order to even be considered for one of the eight spots available to speak.
This comes in a Facebook post from Taylor who is calling on other committee members to resign as well.
The first meeting Taylor was to moderate would’ve been the meeting at South Grenville District High School tomorrow evening at 6:30pm, which Taylor says has had zero requests to present as of last Tuesday.
