Last week, the OPP in Frontenac were looking for applications from students to be part of the Marine Unit. Now OPP closer to home are also looking for applications. The Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry OPP are giving students a chance to be out in the water and get valuable experience with police as part of the marine unit. The program provides exposure and experience within the field of Law Enforcement through hands-on experience on a police vessel. Students work with qualified OPP marine operators as they conduct checks on recreational boaters. Students must meet certain requirements to apply including:
•You are able to pass an OPP background security investigation.
•You are at least 18 years of age.
•You must have a valid Ontario G2 (or higher) Driver’s Licence or equivalent.
•You must have a valid and current Pleasure Craft Operator Card.
•You must have valid and current CPR and First Aid certification.
•You must be able to swim 300 metres without stopping.
