Gastroenteric Infection Outbreak at BGH

Brockville General Hospital has declared an enteric outbreak in their 1 East Unit.

Gastroenteric infections can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach cramps. Symptoms usually last for two to three days.

The unit remains open to the public, but BGH is strongly recommending that all non-essential visits be limited until the outbreak has ended.

The hospital’s infection control team has started cleaning and containment practices to try and isolate the infection.
