TVO programming will still be available to residents in Leeds and Grenville. This comes after the provincial Liberals reversed their decision to shut down TV-Ontario broadcasts outside of the Greater Toronto Area.
Eight transmitters were scheduled to be decommissioned, including ones in Ottawa, Belleville, and Cloyne.
Leeds-Grenville MPP Steve Clark says he is pleased that the Wynne government listened to the pleas of Ontarians to keep the broadcasts alive.
Clark was still concerned by the original decision, saying it shows a lack of connection to life in Ontario outside of the GTA.
He also said that because all provincial taxpayers contribute to the $40-million TVO receives from the government, all Ontarians should have TVO available to them.
