Project Silkstone Disrupts Illegal 401 Trafficking

The OPP, together with a number of other police organizations, have charged 18 people with 81 offences during Project Silkstone.

The high-level investigation was carried out along the 401 corridor between Toronto and Montreal over the past 18-months to target illegal drugs and weapons trafficking.

OPP Detective Mark Loader says the highway provides an easy route for criminals and criminal organizations as it provides access to many major cities, ports, and border crossings.

The project collected 23 firearms as well as large quantities of cash and drugs.
