The Prescott Curling Club may have relief coming for a long running issue.
Approximately 15 years ago the curb and sidewalk in front of the curling club were redone. While the curb was constructed properly, and to the correct height, the change caused a drainage issue where water flows back toward the building’s foundation. This issue is well known to the town and last night the Committee of the Whole formalized a plan to solve the problem.
Dan Beattie, the Director of Public Works and Infrastructure, was previously asked to find out how much it would cost to re-asphalt the area. Beattie determined that it would cost approximately $5,500 to properly resurface. The Committee wants to solve the problem but they are hesitant to spend so much town money on the project.
As a result the Committee put forward a motion that suggested staff look in to alternative solutions with the maximum budget not to exceed $5,500. Beattie said that grass was a possible solution to the drainage issue as well, but it was unclear whether grass would be able to survive long term.
